We need Rock banjo pix, stories, etc. I know there is more than two Rock banjers out there! Please help keep the Rock banjo legacy alive!
Howdy Folks!
This is a blog club for those of you lucky enough to own a Bob Rock banjo.
Born in 1907 and from Bedford, PA, Bob built between 700 and 800 banjos before he died a few years ago. Bob's original trade was building horse-drawn wagons and blacksmithing, but began building banjos as a hobby in 1960. His banjos were built from wood cut from his property and would make some of the metal parts on the banjo. Most of his banjos were archtops.
Tell Us About Your Bob Rock Banjo!
We want this site to be the clearinghouse of Bob Rock banjos. Send us banjo specs (when built, what model, when did you get it, what hardware do you have on it, etc) as well as pictures! Thanks
Read About Bob Rock
You can order this book from the Historical Society of Pennsylvania. It has many stories for folk arts people from PA. Click on the photo to get to the website or go to http://www.hsp.org/default.aspx?id=938
